The United Kingdom and India Essay The purpose of this paper is to understand the benefits of the trade relationship between the United Kingdom and India particularly in the small and medium enterprises sector of each country. Introduction The relationship between the United Kingdom and India can be traced from centuries ago. The British Empire once colonized India and the British have already seen so many unique attributes of India in terms of products and resources that they began taking it to their shores. The Indian and British economy can be both very influential in developing peace and justice in the world economy. Thus it can only be done if both countries will begin seizing the opportunities today. India being the largest democracy is not only a very good potential market, but in the long run, this country is bound to contribute a lot of things to the progress of the world. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said in (2007) India is one of the engines of world growth. I believe Britain must be a full participant and indeed your partner of choice. Research Question How does the current trade relationship between U. K. and India affect each otherââ¬â¢s domestic economic growth? Objectives: â⬠¢ To determine whether the current trade relationship of the United Kingdom and India is strong and beneficial (advantageous) or its opposite â⬠¢ To understand whether to what extent each country influences the other in terms of monetary and non monetary investments â⬠¢ To identify which factors contribute to the success (or failure) of the existing trade relationship Hypotheses â⬠¢ India and the United Kingdomââ¬â¢s trade relationship is a strong and beneficial one â⬠¢ The existing trade relationship between U. K. and India provides India with beneficial technology transfer and knowledge building which improves small and medium size entrepreneurial growth â⬠¢ The existing strong relationship between U. K. and India paved the way for India to invest favorably in the U. K. Methodology This paper will particularly rely on secondary sources taken from the studies of experts in the said field, and primary data coming from government agencies that investigate and study this topic in the United Kingdom and India. Literature Review Gareth Thomas MP, Minister for Trade, Investment and Consumer Affairs in April 2008 further added that, ââ¬Å"The UK can help India achieve this ambitious target. We are a natural ally of India in encouraging Europe to open up in areas of interests. As allies we need to support the global economy and restore confidence. The alternative risks nations succumbing to the growing tide of protectionism. The UK-India partnership ââ¬â Governments and business ââ¬â must continue to be at the forefront of those making the case for increased openness. I believe that strengthening still further UK-India trade will help Indiaââ¬â¢s development, will help India to lift more of itââ¬â¢s people out of poverty and at the same time be good too for British business, British jobs and our economy. â⬠This statement goes to show that such relationship equally benefits both countries, because more and more Indian companies are penetrating UK for investments thus providing the UK with more job opportunities, especially on the Northern Ireland part. Now, in the 21st century, the trade relations of both country has gone stronger. The United Kingdomââ¬â¢s strong trading relationships with India provides for advantages specifically in the area of business in the U. K. ââ¬â¢s domestic economy. According to Prime Minister Brown (2008), ââ¬Å"The UK will invest another ? 825 million for development in India over the next three years. â⬠Brown announced the funding during his India visit. UKââ¬â¢s aid in strengthening the education sector of India, will also prove to be beneficial for both countries in the long run. This is so because, there will be an increase in the talent pool which can help Indian and British companies. The UK investment is not merely for trade purposes, but this time a big chunk of the investment will go to humanitarian purposes and education wherein up to ? 500 million is expected be spent on health and education. The said funds will give 300,000 more teachers and another 300,000 classrooms ensuring that in total by 2011, 4 million more children half of them girls ââ¬â will be able to go to school. This then, will definitely promote more equality in education. Prime Minister Brown in (2008) further added that, Over the last few years, India has made great progress in tackling poverty and sustaining economic development. But some grave challenges remain. The UK is keen to play its part and work in partnership with India to fight poverty. That is why I am pleased to announce this substantial package of support to help make a better future for Indiaââ¬â¢s poorest. This is a very important statement because it reflects how committed the UK is in helping the Indian society. Definitely, a country can only achieve high quality of growth and very good business climate if it is able to sustain its own demands for change. UK is very particular with ââ¬Å"just changeâ⬠, or an equitable change. It cannot be that India continues to contribute to the most number of billionaires in the world and yet a lot of its citizens are still dying of hunger, unemployment, poverty and other diseases. The UKââ¬â¢s Secretary of State for International Development, Douglas Alexander, said: Without India getting on track, the world will fail to meet the Millennium Development Goals. That is why the UK contribution which accounts for 1/3 of all aid to India is welcomed. Past UK support has helped to raise primary school enrolment rates to 94 per cent and provided water and sanitation for 10 million slum dwellers. The ? 825m contribution will continue to benefit Indias poorest by improving health (including under nutrition) and education for all. Though parts of India are booming, the levels of child malnutrition in India are nearly twice as high as the average for all of sub Saharan Africa. India is home to one third of the worldââ¬â¢s poor. Up to 400 million people live on under a dollar a day. UKââ¬â¢s contribution to India transcends business, it has to be also about development. UK believes that India is a huge talent pool, and yet it can only be sustained if education will not be limited to few. If India wants to be one of the largest economies, then it has to produce more leaders by means of education- and this is where UK is very helpful with.

Analysis of Macbeth Macbeth is a character of powerful contradictions. He is a man who, for the sake of his ambition, is willing to murder his king and his best friend. At the same time, he has a conscience that is so strong that just the thought of his crimes torments him. In fact, even before he commits his crimes the thought of them makes him miserable. Is Macbeth a horrible monster or is he a sensitive man- a victim of witches and his own ambitions? Or is he both? If he is both, how can the two sides of his nature exist side by side? To answer those questions, let's first look at what he does. Then we will look at how he feels about what he does. In the play, of course, the two go together. His actions are monstrous. If Macbeth were a criminal brought to trial, the list of the charges against him would be long: 1. He murders his king, who is also a relative. The crime is treasonous and sacrilegious, since every king is set on his throne by God. Macbeth's guilt is even blacker because the King was his guest at the time of the murder. A host has responsibility to protect his guest. 2. He hires men to kill his best friend, Banquo. He wants the men to kill Banquo's young son, Fleance, too, but Fleance escapes. 3. He sends men to kill Macduff's wife and children. 4. Having taken the crown by murder, he keeps it by deception. He plants spies in all the nobles' homes and spreads lies about Malcolm, who should rightfully inherit the throne. 5. More crimes are referred to but not specified. Macbeth rules by terror, since he does not deserve- or have- anybody's loyalty. Describing Scotland under Macbeth's rule, Macduff says, "Each new morn / New widows howl, new orphans cry, new sorrows / Strike heaven on the face..." (Act IV, Scene iii, lines 4-6). So Macbeth does horrible things, but that is not the whole story. Macbeth is different from some of Shakespeare's other villains like Iago (in Othello) and Richard III. The latter enjoy doing evil; they have renounced what we think of as normal ethics and morality. Macbeth's feelings are more complicated. In the beginning of the play, at least, he appears to have a conscience that tells him what he's doing is wrong.

ââ¬ÅOne Artââ¬Â by Elizabeth Bishop Essay
In her poem, ââ¬Å"One Art,â⬠Elizabeth Bishop constructs a poem that reveals a struggle with mastering the issue of loss. Through the use of a villanelle, Bishop utilizes the significance of structure and word choice to further the meaning of her work. Bishop crescendos each stanza to create a firm foundation for the dramatic conclusion, and incorporates expressive words throughout the poem to illuminate the last stanzaââ¬â¢s attitude shift from that of carelessness to seriousness. The villanelle form is a type of love poem and Elizabeth Bishopââ¬â¢s use of this is appropriate for her poem about lost love. The first five tercets (three lined stanzas) begin by speaking of small objects (keys) then grow to large items (continents). The final stanza is a quatrain (four lined stanza) that contains the occasion and attitude shift of the poem. The poemââ¬â¢s first line ââ¬Å"the art of losing isnââ¬â¢t hard to masterâ⬠resurfaces throughout the text to reiterate the speakerââ¬â¢s opinion on the mastery of loss. And the repetition of the third lineââ¬â¢s final word ââ¬Å"disasterâ⬠is a key to the meaning of the poem. Bishopââ¬â¢s word choice furthers the significance of loss and love throughout the poem. Since the first and third lines repeat within the text the middle lines of each stanza remain different from each other. The endings of each middle line have the same rhyme pattern and collectively they spell out an ultimate loss-â⬠intentâ⬠/ ââ¬Å"spentâ⬠/ ââ¬Å"meantâ⬠/ and ââ¬Å"went.â⬠The speaker, in the beginning, is impersonal and does not mention any valuable item which was lost. In the second stanza the speaker explains how to master the art of loss, and urges the readers to practice, making it a habit: ââ¬Å"Lose something every day (line 4).â⬠The ââ¬Å"lost door keys, the hour badly spent (line 5)â⬠become materialistic entities and lost time. The third stanza contains a dynamic list of uncontrollable loss. By choosing the phrase ââ¬Å"losing farther, losing faster (line 7),â⬠Bishop illustrates movement in time, ultimately symbolizing loss. The simple shift from the third stanza to the fourth allow for a more personal touch to the poem with the addition of the word ââ¬Å"I.â⬠Bishop chooses the ââ¬Å"motherââ¬â¢s watchâ⬠to symbolize time and the link between generations. The lost watch makes tangible the feeling of inevitable loss. The speaker also sequences her losses- ââ¬Å"my lastâ⬠/ ââ¬Å"next-to-last.â⬠Stanzaà five is the final tercet that includes materialistic items lost by the speaker. The loss of spacious and lavishing objects such as ââ¬Å"citiesâ⬠/ ââ¬Å"realms,â⬠ââ¬Å"rivers,â⬠and ââ¬Å"continentsâ⬠can not compare to the feelings the speaker acquires from the loss of love in stanza six. The final stanza, the quatrain, contains an attitude shift from that of invincibility to somberness. By implementing ââ¬Å"you,â⬠Bishop transformed the poem into a personal piece by breaking away from the pattern of inanimate objects and incorporating an actual being. Although the tone is of a more personal nature the details are still muffled. The parenthesis around ââ¬Å"(the joking voice, a gesture/ I love)â⬠creates a caesura for the reader, allowing a pause before confronting the uncertainty of the last lines. The first line refrain varies its form in line eighteen with the addition of the word ââ¬Å"tooâ⬠which seems to second-guess the original assertion that loss ââ¬Å"isnââ¬â¢t hard to master.â⬠And in the closing line the repetition of ââ¬Å"likesâ⬠postpones the final word that the speaker is so hesitant to admit-ââ¬Å"disaster.â⬠The parenthetical statement ââ¬Å"(Write it)â⬠is a self-prompt that conveys the energy needed to actually allow the word ââ¬Å"disasterâ⬠to be recognized. By putting it in writing the speaker is accepting the fact that they have not yet mastered the art of loss. Bishopââ¬â¢s use of the villanelle form and strong word choice collectively work together to illustrate the speakerââ¬â¢s private sorrows over a lost love without including a self-pitied tone. The poem reveals a struggle for mastery that will never be attained. One does attempt to master loss but the recognition of powerlessness may be a more efficient method to tame loss.

Abortion Personal Choice or Ethical Decision Argumentative Essays
According to Bruce N. Waller, a professor of philosophy in his book has managed to give us the general readings on ethics that affect our challenges in society. This book gives the reader an idea of what is right morally and what is wrong hence giving one the chance of seeking the values needed in handling debates over things like abortion. According to him, abortion is an immoral act that should be discouraged especially among the young children who are still developing. Various ethics and morals have been discussed in depth to give the readers a clear and conscience information on how to handle these issues when they present themselves (Waller, 2007). A personââ¬â¢s moral standard defines his/her personal traits of character whereas ethics (family, social, company, professional, and professional) of an individual stresses the social systems by which his/her moral are being applied on. Hence, a personââ¬â¢s ethics clearly states the codes of behavior expected of him by his group. In most countries in the globe, abortion has been legalized thus medically it is ethical, but many find it to be immoral at a personal level. Fundamentalists, extremists, and theist of the mainstream all have a different thought of morality influencing each oneââ¬â¢s life, through legal discriminations and pressures from the social environment. Debates arising from abortion give focus to the politics and laws of the country: should it be banned and given the same treatment as murder cases, or should it remain as a personal and legal choice made available to women in countries. Laws of the country are based on the values of the morals but with abor tion cases, it should be a legislative morality. In Canada, abortion is on high demand whereas in Nicaragua it is illegal. This practice has led to violence acts use escalating in countries. A woman who decides to carry out an abortion should give specific reasons as to why they are carrying out the act. Once the egg of the woman is fertilized by the sperm, then the product becomes a fetus that is a living thing and should be treated as so. Many individuals argue that the fetus is not a human being since it is not fully developed, but scientifically the fetus is a human being thus has rights. Women should not be given the authority to choose between sparing the fetus and killing it since majority of them will choose the latter. A woman who consented to engage in sexual activities and did not use the contraceptionââ¬â¢s properly knows that her chances of getting pregnant are high thus should not carry out an abortion since nobody forced her to sex. The women who are given a leeway to carry out an abortion are those who were brutally raped by unknown persons or those whom have complications. Moreover, the fetus has rights and the parent should be in a position to find t he balance against the motherââ¬â¢s rights (Baird Rosenbaum, 1993). Pregnancy means that a living being is growing in the womb. Whether or not the fetus is completely formed or not, and if the State decides to take part in the decision process concerning legalizing abortion or not, the woman has been given some ethical obligations to the developing fetus and thus she needs to protect it from any dangers that are bound to come its way. This obligation is enough a reason as to why abortion should be limited to those situations that qualify it to be ethically right. A fetus is like a baby and the ability to kill something close to it should be avoided at all times by women in the globe. It is not ethical or humane to commit murder since we all need to be given the chance and opportunity to enjoy this world. The woman should ask herself the same question: what if my mother aborted me? Anyway, it is a personal choice to be made and nobody, even the father of the unborn baby should interfere with the decision making process. Autonomy is an issue of ethical necessity that has brought many controversies when it comes to abortion. Women argue that it is their personal choice to make on whether to terminate or continue with the pregnancy. Whether the fetus has been fully formed, they claim that they have a personal and bodily autonomy and prefer that the society give regard to their ethics, democracy, and freedom in all areas of their lives. Ignorant women have decided to take matters into their hands and have gone to the extent of performing crude abortion methods that have jeopardized their health and that of the developing fetus. There are times when the abortion process backfires leaving the woman permanently disabled or unable to conceive children. Today, most of the teenage girls are scared of getting pregnant which has forced them to take contraceptive tools that have endangered their lives. A large group of girls in the U.S. have been exposed to these pills at a very tender age, which has led to their imbalance of hormones and attack, by diseases due to their weak immune systems, which have been exposed to many chemicals that have lowered their metabolism rates. The immune system should not be exposed to foreign chemicals, as it will cause damage to the whole body. Girls need to be educated on the importance of taking precaution when engaging in sexual activities at an early age. Every sexual activity performed has consequences that the parties should be ready to accommodate hence if they get pregnant they should be responsible and care for the unborn baby and hence should carry the pregnancy to term. Ethically, it is wrong for a woman to give preference to her career and not her unborn child. The personal choice for women carrying out abortions is that they want to progress in their professions and need no destructions. The time they were making the baby it was all sweet, no complains, but now that it is going to give them some responsibilities, they are trying to escape. Personal choices vary in women. Some say that they want to enjoy life; others say that they are not ready to be mothers while there are some who fear what their friends will say. Personal choices should be made by women bearing in mind that it is going to haunt them in future and thus the reasons of performing the act should be genuine and crucial as advised by physicians. Those women who qualify to carry out an abortion are those who have a medical history that allows them not to have a baby or if they decide to have it, they will need to be hospitalized for the whole period. Pregnancies that threaten the mothe rââ¬â¢s life associate the mother a right to life other than her right to integrity of the body and personal choices. However, it is not ethical to force women to carry to term pregnancies that are unwanted because they are not going to care for them. This may force them to mistreat them and thus it will not be fair to let them have the child and as such those who know they are not going to be good mothers in future, need to make the most open and ethical choice (Kaczor, 2010). The nature of the person is also another reason that forces the woman and man to consent to carrying out an abortion. When a person is mentally sane, it is advisable to carry out an abortion in order to free the infant the dangers involved with such people. A mad woman can decide to perform a dissection to see what is in the womb among other crazy things like piercing the belly with sharp objects especially those times when the baby is moving in the womb. Those women who lack the proper means and ways of caring for the unborn child will be left with no other choice, but commit abortion in order to avoid stealing from other people who have mouths to feed. Given the above reasons, it becomes evident that a personal choice should be made concerning abortion (Bender, 1991). Politics have regarded abortion as the privacy right surrounding women thus the time/period and how the regulation of abortion is imposed by the authority all depends on the country. Sovereign countries have not spelled their privacy rights in their constitutions, but since they are democratic, it becomes a functional foundation. Habeas corpus provision gives individuals the guarantee of freedom right from interference by the arbitrary government and the process law, which is due. The English common laws operate in most countries giving rise to the privacy right through Reception Acts. Ethically, abortion involves discrimination on the unborn baby. Philosophers argue that those who define reference right to life with particular interests on the levels of physical developments maintain that these characteristics are relevant morally. In addition to this, deprivation of the fetus right to life through abortion does not give it the chance to experience the bright future that was ahead of it. The future of any individual is expected to have valuable experiences that are desired by many, activities, projects with others, and fun times with friends, family, and society at large. Abortion is seen as killing a human being who was bound to have all this and more when they matured later in life (Watkins, 2005). Several critiques have argued that the reasoning of different individuals follows several threads where others are rejecting the personality identity grounds since they donââ¬â¢t agree that the fetus has the same entity as a fully developed adult hence their future are not the same in any way. Others agree that the developing fetus is like the adult, but being deprived of its life in future is not harmful since their psychological connections between it and the fully developed adult are few. Other critiques have raised the issue of abortion bringing about inequalities in the manner in which the abortion should be conducted. They say that there are those fetuses that are brighter than others are and need to be spared while those who are weak need to be done away with. This is morally wrong since all beings are Godââ¬â¢s creation and need to be treated as so (Kaczor, 2010). It is wrong to ethically carry out an abortion in the Christian religion and thus women and men should consider their decisions before completing the process (Wenz, 1992). à Abortion is an act that involves killing of another human being, which is not right since it is the Lord who has a right to take and give life to us. Carrying out an abortion should not be taken lightly since it entails many activities like washing of the stomach, which is a painful process. It also involves the insertion of injections into the stomach and breaking the fetus into pieces then sucking the blood clot, which is the developing baby (Rice, 2000). Hardships and deprivations are some of the reasons of social problems and why people engage in immoral acts like abortion. This is a eugenic approach since individuals are trying to limit the number of children they should have rather than them addressing poverty and bad housing, which has been faced by mothers in different societies, regions, and countries. Many of the people in the society became poor because they bore too many children yet they could not care for them and not because the society had not given them, the resources they need. Britain is now looking for a birth control plan that is going to reduce the number of poor families and a validity covering legal abortion to limit those unwanted children in the nation (Watkins, 2005). Traditionally, it was a taboo for women to carry out an abortion since people valued children. Nowadays, there are traditional medicines administered to mothers who have committed an abortion. In our contemporary society also, abortion is not to be seen by doctors, makers of the policies, or women as it was seen within the social engineering tradition. The abortion provisions are only limited to meet the womanââ¬â¢s request for they do not want to be pregnant. In order to reduce the numbers of those children born with abnormalities in the society, women are advised by their physicians to undergo an abortion since the fetus has abnormalities. The personal choice also comes in situations like this because unless the pregnant woman consents there will be no abortion even if the fetus has abnormalities and poses grave danger to the mother and the state which is saved from the costs involved in caring for the child (Bender, 1991). Antenatal type of screening benefits the woman and is c onducted upon her request only. It is better for a child to have a healthy growth than to spend most of its time in and out of hospitals curing different kinds of ailments due to its weak immune system and abnormality. The society will also be burdened by the costs involved in caring for the child hence women who are pregnant with abnormal fetuses should consider carrying out an abortion (Cozic Stacey, 2000). In conclusion, women should be given the right to exercise their expression on humanity by being given the chance to make their own life decisions. This will give an implication that their moral worth and autonomy is respected in the society without questioning their conscience. Decisional autonomy and privacy of personal life should not be considered as a criminal law, but an act of upholding quality of life for beings in the society. The pregnant women should be given the chance and space to make their own decisions regarding the abortion issue hence at no point should anyone interfere. Abortion is an act that should be considered carefully since complications arise if not done in a professional way. Education and awareness of the abortion menace should be emphasized in the contemporary society so as to reduce the number of death cases reported as a result of abortion (Bringsjord, 1997).
